Beaumont Music in the press....

Our success abroad has been reported in the St Albans Observer and This is Local London .

Two messages from Vienna

I attended the concert given by students from Beaumont School at the Haus der Musik, Vienna, yesterday, and I am writing to say how much I enjoyed the performance. I was very impressed by the standard of the playing, and by the musicians' behaviour and demeanour. You and the staff at Beaumont School must be very proud of your students. They are excellent ambassadors for their school, and for British schools in general! (Ms Sian Stickings, British Embassy, Vienna) I just wanted to say that you really can be proud of the kids, I never had a group where the children were as punctual and happy and friendly. I really enjoyed it. (Daniela Loidl, Club Europe Tour Representative)

Stephansdom, Wien

Performing in Stephansdom was a real privilege for the Choir and Vocal Ensemble. Whilst tourists were wandering around the cathedral, they enjoyed a selection of European sacred music, including Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine and Mendelssohn's Verleih Uns Frieden. A very short excerpt of the latter can be found below:

St Peter's Lunchtime Concert 06/02/08

This performance is the Vocal Ensemble's 2nd visit to St Peter's this academic year and the programme can be viewed in previous postings. The Ensemble performed superbly, moving many audience members to tears with an arrangement of Billy Joel's And So it Goes , as well as an outstanding performance of Dido's Lament by Erica Thompson. The Vocal Ensemble should be extremely proud of their achievements: it was a fabulous way to end the half term and excellent preparation for the tour to Vienna. Enjoy the photos below! Perhaps it's a long way off but Miss Shepherd has secured the rights to our next production! Company by Stephen Sondheim will take place on Wednesday and Thursday 22nd and 23rd October 2008 . The show will be for next year's Years 10, 12 and 13, and auditions will take place some time before Years 11 and 12 go on study leave. For those of you in Years 7-9, don't worry, we will be putting on a lower school production later on in 2009. For those of you who don't know much about Company , there is plenty of information on the internet. It's a difficult musical but absolutely fantastic. Below is the opening number Company: The cast of the Broadway revival of Company. For more information, see Miss Shepherd or Miss Doan.

**Itinerary Amendments**

Due to a brand new Austrian public holiday, we will no longer be performing at the British Embassy, which is a bit of a shame. However, we will be performing at Haus der Musik instead! This does mean that our itinerary has been changed. I have amended it here on the blog and you will receive a copy on the coach. Please check the posting if you want to see the changes. Just click on the label Vienna 2008 and you will find it. Nur 6 Tage! Woop woop!
