The Summer Concert is on Tuesday 18th July. A very detailed Parent Mail has been sent - please make sure your parents have checked it. On the day, we will meet at 1205 (start of P5) in Music. Make sure you have all your music, instruments, and a packed lunch. Bring water . We will go by coach to St. Paul's Church, Blandford Road, and rehearse all afternoon. If you are in Year 11 or 13, you may make your own way there, be there latest 1245, but earlier if you want to be helpful. You will be making your way home from St. Paul's at 1525, so please let us know asap if this is going to be a problem. You will need to be back at St. Paul's for 6.30pm, in Summer Uniform (black or black and white for Yr11 and above). Any questions to Music Captains. It is going to be a great concert. Dear Years 11 and 13, As you embark on study leave, here is some information regarding extra-curricular clubs. Above all, your attendance is expected at the following clubs: Vocal Ensemble Big Band Orchestra If you cannot make a club due to an exam, no problem, but do have the courtesy to let us know. For all other clubs, you are welcome to join us, but if you need to study, then do please study. Please try to make at least the final two or three rehearsals before the concert. Music students, please remember that we are both around during your lesson time (and pretty much any other time), should you need any help with revision. All the best guys! As we prepare for the concert, younger students look to you as role models, and you have a huge impact on the quality of our ensembles. Apologies for the delay, but here goes. After Orchestra, we will all return to H Block for Chamber Music Fridays. Let's say I am trying to emulate a mini 'Music School' without the tuck shop.  This will run from 3.30-4/4.15pm. Wind Ensemble will go in H1, a String Trio in H2 and another in a practice room and a Flute Trio in one of the practice rooms (good piano).  The aim is not only to produce high quality chamber music, but for you to get a sense of what it is like to rehearse in an intimate atmosphere, and interact musically on a smaller scale.  Chamber music is one of the most joyful musical forms and I am excited about getting it going properly at Beaumont.  If you are not on the list below, please approach me with ideas - we can have many more groups going eventually.  The idea is that the type of group changes each term. There will be a slight change to the post-orchestra session (3.30-4pm) on Fridays. We will be running chamber music groups, which will include instruments from all families. The idea is that we organise a few groups which will be running in the Music Group, with staff dipping in and out of your rehearsals, advising where necessary. This might be anything from String Quartets through to Wind Ensembles, plus mixed ensembles too. I have an idea of the ensemble I would like to start with, and will release these details during the course of next week, starting next Friday 23rd September. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please approach me with these and we will consider them! Looking forward to trying something new!

Hi guys, Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to run Male Voice Choir this half term. You've all worked really hard this term, and performed in three fantastic concerts - so well done all of you. This means MVC won't be performing in the Summer Concert, which is a shame. If you want to sing in the Summer Concert, you just need to join choir, which runs on a Friday lunchtime. On Saturday, Ms Doan will be playing in the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra Concert in St Saviour's Church at 7.30pm. On the programme, every string player's dream: Bach Violin Concerto in E, a Handel Concerto Grosso and some Lennox Berkeley too. If you are in Senior Strings, you will love this. If you are in Year 9, two of the styles you will be studying at GCSE feature in this programme.  Arts Award students will also enjoy this. In actual fact, if you enjoy music on any level, you will enjoy this concert.  Please come. It's £3 for students, and you can buy your tickets in advance by clicking here , or you can get them on the door. Hope to see you there.

The Vocal Ensemble is delighted to be joining Carillon Chamber Choir in a concert of music by Bairstow, Finzi and HK Andrews. Please join us this Saturday 19th March at 7.30pm in St John's Church, Harpenden  for what will be an evening of glorious music.

Dear all, It is with some sadness that we write the following blog post. We have decided, with regret, not to run a Music Tour in February half term 2017. We have debated the decision for some time, but for family reasons, this time around, it is not viable to run a school trip outside of term time. We know lots of you will be disappointed by this decision, especially those of you in Years 11 and 12, who may not get the opportunity to go on another tour. We are looking into the possibility of alternative musical events during 2017, and we will keep you updated. Once again, we are very sorry that we are not running a February tour next year. We hope you will understand why we have come to our decision. We love you all, Mr Guinane and Ms Doan xx
