Alice Watts: Silver Arts Award Review

For my arts review I went to the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibition in London. I went last year in August during the summer holidays with my cousin and aunt. I chose to use this as my arts review because I have a big interest in the fashion industry and I had a lot to say about the exhibition. As I have a big interest in fashion design and textiles, I had such a great day in London at the exhibition because I have never been to something like it before and I thought it would be a good idea to do a review on something I know quite a lot about and could say a lot about instead of a performance at the theatre or a backstage tour. We looked around at Alexander’s most famous deigns. I feel like that this experience really got me excited for starting my GCSE’s as I’m going to be doing textiles as one of my subjects and by going got me to be able to get me some inspiration for it all and especially because Alexander McQueen is one inspirations. Also while we were there I learnt a lot …

Vocal Ensemble and Training Ensemble Auditions 2016-17

Dear all,

Auditions for our two chamber choirs will take place after school on Wednesday 20th July.

Please sign up on the door outside of the Music Office. You need only put down your name.

You will be asked to sing the soprano line (tune) of Ave Verum Corpus by Mozart. The music can be found here, as well as in Ms Doan's red pigeon hole (outside the Music Office) from next week.

We are looking for a clear tone, accuracy of pitch and rhythm, and musicality. Pronunciation of Latin is not the most important thing.

You will audition once, and should you be successful, we will place you in the appropriate ensemble.

Vocal Ensemble rehearsals take place after school on Wednesdays, and Training Ensemble rehearsals at lunchtime on Wednesdays. Should you be offered a place, you will be expected to attend all rehearsals, as well as continuing to be a member of the main choir.

We would encourage all students interested in singing to audition. Please do not be intimidated by the high standard…

Seasons of Love:
Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes Five hundred twenty five thousand moments so dear Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes How do you measure, measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets In midnights, in cups of coffee In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife In five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes How do you measure a year in the life?
How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love Seasons of love (love) Seasons of love (love)
(Year 13 Girls' solo while everyone else sings a variety of "oooh") Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes Five hundred twenty five thousand journeys to plan Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?

Arts Award: Skills Share

As ever, it has been a pleasure to mark this year's Arts Award portfolios. I came across Caius Datt leading a group of Year 8 boys singing, with which I was really impressed. Well done to you all.
